Dr. Mohamed Abdelaty holds B.Sc. on civil #engineering from Cairo university (EGYPT), an M.Sc. from the University of Manchester (UK) on Management and Implementation of Development Projects, a Licence of Hydraulic Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH Sweden) on #water#resources management and its role in integrated #development, PhD on Civil engineering from Ain Shams university on the Impacts of #climatechange on the Nile flows.
He has conducted postgraduate #research in Utrecht, IHE universities in the Netherlands, Hull university in the UK, the University of Maryland, Georgia Tech., United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), Hydrologic Research Institute, National Oceanic and Atmospheric office in the USA.
From 2016 to 2022 Dr. Abdelaty was the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, where he prepared the 2050 national water strategy and 2017 national water resources #plan to increase national resilience against extremes (floods and droughts), new water laws, execution of several projects like new Assuit barrage, canals lining and rehabilitation, modern irrigation in old lands, flash flood protection works, shore #protection, fast track water #security plan, drainage water #treatment and #recycling and etc.
Dr. Abdelaty worked as a reinforced concrete structures #design#consultant, projects manager water resources consultant, lecturer/trainer and resource person for several international organizations like WB, AfDB, AU, ESCWA, UNESCO, CEDARE, FAO, NBI, WMO, AWC. On water resources planning, #development and management, #climate change, #project management, procurement, quality management, value #engineering, #hydrology and early warning system.
Dr. Abdelaty published more than 35 research papers in journals and international conferences
Dr. Abdelaty is currently the head of the projects and premises group at the National Bank of Egypt
