Dr. El-Haggar has been working on environmental technologies since 1987, with a paramount objective to transform waste into useful products. He developed a simple theory called the 7Rs Rule to approach the cradle-to-cradle concept. This theory fundamentally focuses on all kinds of recycling, including on-site recycling, off-site recycling, and sustainable treatment for potential recycling.

In 2007, Dr. El-Haggar developed a formula and indicator for sustainable development, which he detailed in his book “Sustainable Industrial Design and Waste Management: Cradle-to-Cradle for Sustainable Development,” published by Elsevier Academic Press. This book was the first worldwide to demonstrate the concept of net zero waste according to cradle-to-cradle principles, aiming to protect both the environment and natural resources while integrating these principles into business plans to achieve sustainability.
